Arthur L. Van Vleck (died 1863) was a Union soldier with the 126th Ohio Infantry serving chiefly in West Virginia and Maryland near Harpers Ferry, circa October 1862-July 1863. The collection is a contemporary handwritten transcription of a diary (actually, an account in installments) of Van Vleck, circa October 1862-July 1863. The account was sent by Van Vleck to his aunt and then transcribed by It describes camp life, marches, and fighting, in some detail, and is particularly concerned with prayer and worship. sister Lou.
